# Renewal and ending the engagement

> What you see in the console when your engagement comes up for renewal, or ends.

Your signed engagement and business associate agreement (BAA) set the term, how notice is given, the fees after
an engagement ends and what happens to your data. Owners and admins find the signed copies in
**Settings → Agreements**. This page only describes what you see in the console.

## Renewal

Before your engagement runs out, your practice's owners get a reminder by email and To do shows
**Renew your engagement**. Our team sends the renewal. Once it's there, the To do item says it's waiting for
your signature, and you sign it in **Settings → Agreements**, like your first engagement.

If it runs out before a renewal is sent, the item reads **Your engagement ended on** that date and says our team
sends the renewal; nothing else changes in your console.

## If an end date is set

This section applies only once an end date for your engagement is on file. You can't set one in the console, and
your engagement says how notice is given. To do leads with **Your engagement ends on** that date. Once the
date has passed, the item then reads **Your engagement has ended**, and:

* **No new claims.** [Send us claims](/guides/send-claims) says the engagement has ended. When it still offers
an upload, it's for 835 remittance files only.
* **Cases with an appeal already filed stay open.** You still confirm payments on them with **Mark paid**, and
with the remittance when Send us claims offers the upload (see
[Billing and payments](/guides/billing-and-payments#confirm-a-payment)). To do keeps listing what those cases
  need from you.
* **Cases with nothing filed are closed.** A patient who signed an authorization for one of them sees on their
case page that the case is closed, and is emailed when we have an email address.
